Recycle for the North East aims to raise the awareness of all stakeholders about their role in waste issues

Campaign Overview

Recycle for the North East is a campaign aimed at raising the awareness of North East Residents, businesses and Community Groups about the role they play in reducing the waste the North East produces and increasing our recycling rates so the North East becomes the best recyclers in the UK!

Although recycling services are not uniform across the region, we should all still endeavour to recycle what materials we can, ensuring that we treat the materials correctly and do not cause contamination of the recycling waste collected by our local authorities. Bearing in-mind that too much of the wrong material in a recycling collection may lead to the whole load being disposed of at landfill as general waste.

Local Authorities in the North East provide Civic Amenity Sites so that residents can recycle items not collected from their recycling bins. To find out where your nearest Civic Amenity Site is click here and enter your postcode. If you would like to contact your Local Authority direct about your waste links to their websites are available here.
