Waste Aware North East (WANE) - About Us

About WANE

It is no longer an option to simply put all the waste we produce in a hole in the ground. It is everyone's responsibility to look at the ways we can reduce the waste we produce, reuse what waste we are able to and recycle as much as possible. There is a need to reduce, reuse and recycle waste to limit our impact on the environment and in many cases save money.
Waste Aware North East developed out of the North East Regional Waste Awareness Initiative (NERWAI) partnership with the aim of raising awareness of waste issues and recycling opportunities. The partnership brings together local authorities in the region, the Environment Agency, WRAP, Groundwork North East, SITA, Premier Waste Management, Procter & Gamble, Valpak, DTA and VONNE.
We work to promote positive waste messages across the region and encourage co-operation between partners on waste communications.
Waste Aware North East aims to:
-
Work with all residents of the North East
-
Work with all Businesses in the North East
- Work with North East Community Waste and Environmental organisations and projects
